Running a small local business can be very hard. I am very lucky and have a great team behind me and very loyal customers.
I also feel very lucky with my raw suppliers. 2021 saw lots of challenges, especially with transport, which caught us a little unaware!!!
DAF, have always been so reliable – they deliver their products themselves and have never failed to deliver. Sometimes their stock levels have been low but I have always managed to get some stock in. The girls at the end of the phone are a pleasure to speak to and are always so helpful.
The Dogs Butcher is are most local Company that we have the pleasure of stocking. They also deliver themselves and we have always had great stock being delivered every 2 weeks. Ordering is simple which helps and communication is great.
Dougies (previously MJ Petfoods), have also had consistent deliveries and they stepped up when we were struggling to get other brands, due to the transport problem. We get a delivery every week from them and this food proves to be a firm favourite with our customers.
Nutriment, WOW what can I say. With the increase in puppies in this area the sale of their Puppy Food has probably been one of our best sellers in 2021. As soon as the food comes in it goes again. They also supply their Low Purine Food which is great for dogs with some conditions. This is one of our other top sellers. Deliveries have been regular with us getting on average a pallet every 10 days and if we run out we get next day delivery from them aswell. We even received a small delivery from them between Christmas and New Year.
Totally Natural were one of our brands that were caught out due to the transport problems earlier this year. They did everything they could to get food to us and were even planning to drive it directly to us if the transport problem wasnt solved. There food is one of our favourites, it is what I feed my dogs. It comes all the way from Scotland. They are great to get hold of, have excelled in deliveries since the transport problem and we get a regular pallet from them approximately every 2 weeks.
MVM or Manifold Valley Meats, struggled a little with their variety of proteins but this is just because of the UK Food Chain, so was unavoidable. We get a regular monthly delivery from them, via their own transport. They have been consistently reliable throughout.
We have taken on some new Suppliers which I am excited about for the New Year.
Nurture them Naturally food supplied in recyclable packaging and is available with or without veg. They are a local Company aswell. They have also just launched a puppy food.
Keizebrink have delivered to us once and they do the novel proteins for those dogs that are suffering from allergies or food intolerances. They also deliver themselves, which at the moment is very important as we dont know what is around the corner. This has not proved as popular as I thought, but is a brand that I am excited about for 2022.
We are constantly expanding our range of raw food, adding alot more Bones and Chunks to our range for those that want to follow a DIY route.
I have also undertaken a Level 3 Qualification in Dog Nutrition which I am hoping to finish this year. This will allow me to offer Nutritional Advise Consults moving forward for those of you that are struggling with your dog.
So a big THANK YOU to all my suppliers (some not mentioned), all my customers and the team at the shop.
I would also like to thank DHL who we use to send out our deliveries of Raw Dog Food. We have had a very reliable service from them throughout the year, with literally a couple of unsucessful deliveries which considering the number we send out is minimal. We have always sorted these failed deliveries out immediately.
Happy New Year, I hope it will be a safe, healthy and fulfilling year for everyone.
Elly
